Introduction to Embark On Talent

Embark On Talent is a specialist talent consultancy for businesses within the Femtech, Women’s Health, and Wellness sectors. For much of medical history, women were excluded from clinical trials. It wasn't until 1993 that the United States passed legislation mandating the inclusion of women in federally-funded research. This exclusion has had profound consequences; many treatments and medications were developed based on male biology, leading to misdiagnoses, ineffective treatments, and higher risks of adverse side effects in women. For example, research shows that women are 50–75% more likely to experience serious side effects from medications than men due to these gaps in research​.

 

The exclusion of women from research is a glaring example of how their health has been systematically overlooked. Even today, representation remains uneven. In fields such as cardiology, women make up a smaller proportion of US clinical trial participants relative to the burden of disease they bear. Such disparities highlight the critical need for a more inclusive approach to health and wellness innovation​.

Founders deserve every opportunity to succeed, and building the right team early on can completely shape that journey. Having access to exceptional talent can completely change a company’s trajectory, yet for many founders, those first hires are often out of reach due to cost or limited networks.

Recognising this, Embark On Talent wanted to create a way to bridge that gap; to help founders attract the kind of talent that can accelerate product development, fundraising, and growth, without adding financial strain. That’s how the Founder-Friendly model was born - it helps early-stage companies hire exceptional talent before securing funding or before meaningful revenue is in place.

How it works

  • Flat-Fee, Deferred Payment: For up to five hires made during the pre-funding phase, a single flat fee per hire applies (payable only once funding or equivalent capital has been secured.)

  • Zero Upfront Cost: No retainers, deposits, or early-stage invoices - you only pay once your company reaches liquidity through investment or sales.

  • Post-Funding Transition: Once capital or revenue has been achieved, the model transitions seamlessly to Embark On Talent’s standard structure:

    • 20% of base salary for contingent searches, or

    • 18% for exclusive engagements.

  • First-Right Partnership: For each pre-funding hire, Embark On Talent retains first right of refusal on the same number of corresponding roles post-funding, ensuring continuity, consistency, and faster turnaround as you scale.
